  If an elder doesn't 'protect the flock', they are held responsible, in their minds, by Jesus/Jehovah. So accepting a bribe, from a believing elders' point of view..could cost their lives.

  Question about convention speaker procedure

  so i know they have someone monitoring everything that gets said from the platform.

  what happens if the speaker gets way off script?

  for example, one of our fading elders decides to just start saying what he knows.

  This was interesting.."Hey I remember my Dad telling me about the brothers watching thestage at the Conventions had to keep their eyes open during prayer b/c legally if someone stormed the stage and took the mic we would have to let them speak if they had the floor because it was a "public" meeting in a "public place". This was in the U.S. Anyone got thoughts on this? I asked him what we would do, he said if theperson refused to shut up we would all just leave and let him talk to empty chairs I guess." From a meeting: "I've seen a few disturbances over the years. A deranged person tried to take control of the podium and give his own speech. He timed it pretty good...he got up right before it was time for the chairman to getup and most of the audience was already in their seats.   Please, do not give up on life.. I have been in a similar place more times than anyone could guess, when a brief and FIRM decision to NOT do something can make all the difference, and the one thing that I can tell you is this.. Not only will you come out of this dark place, for however long that may be.. You WILL look back on this day and be thankful that you didn't act on your thoughts. You will help someone in a way that nobody else could have, and you may not even realise it at first.. Or you will have a time, even just a moment.. when an animal, a nearby park, or something as simple as looking out at your garden whilst the sun shines down on your face, looks so much more beautiful than you had ever noticed before.. That peaceful time, that interaction with a fellow human being who may change your life or you change theirs.. That time when your problem fades into the background.. You WILL experience something that will help you out of this, but only if you choose to not act right now..And tomorrow is a different day, a NEW day..Then you can talk to someone if you feel ready. We care about you, and we look FORWARD to reading your next post.. And the one after that, because no matter how tired you may feel of living.. WE will NEVER tire of you.

  i want to start by saying i will not participate in discussion here about my resignation as a moderator at jwn.. simon please consider this as my resignation from that position.. i have been posting on this board for almost 12 years.

  i know some of you a lot, others a little and some not very well at all.

  i have remained here for those of you who have needed support as you make the transition out of the wts, who needed someone to listen to your experiences of abuse at the hands of jehovah's witnesses, and to both laugh and cry with you as you progress out of the watchtower society.. we know that we have all experienced the cruelty of abuse of one kind or another.
